Vestas – 50 GWhat?


Vestas is the pioneer in modern wind energy – committed 100% to wind. The journey started in 1979 when the first turbine was erected. Since then Vestas has been the market leader and guide in wind energy. Vestas has installed more than 46,000 turbines in 69 countries and in 2012 the milestone of 50 GW will be met. The 50 GW milestone is a proof point of wind being a true alternative to oil and gas. This milestone has been reached together with visionary partners to Vestas that have shared the vision to create a more sustainable world. Vestas is the pioneer in wind and the customers the heroes of wind. Vestas wants to celebrate this mutual commitment to wind and thank customers for their stake in creating a better future – but also state that the 50 GW is only the beginning and the next 50 GW will be reached before 2020. The task of the campaign is to conquer the agenda at EWEA 2012 – Vestas is market leader and EWEA is in 2012 held in Vestas’ backyard.
